Entry checker

Pick your passport and see whether you need a visa for Georgia, how long you can stay, whether another country's visa gets you in, whether the e-visa portal will issue you one, and what to carry to the booth.

Read from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' consular portal and the government e-visa portal on 8 October 2026, all 193 passports. Re-read monthly. Nothing you choose leaves your browser.

Do you hold a valid visa or residence permit from another country?

Only matters if your passport needs a Georgian visa.

How long will you stay?

No visa needed

Up to one full year, no visa

United States of America is on the government's visa-free list (Ordinance 255): a full year from the day you enter, no registration, no fee.

Your stay
Your stay fits inside the year.
Insurance
Required for every tourist since 1 January 2026: at least 30,000 GEL of health and accident cover for the whole stay.
What to carry

At the border

What to carry: United States of America passport

Georgian passport control is quick: the officer takes your passport, may ask how long you are staying, stamps it and hands it back. These are the papers that make that true for you.

  • Passport

Valid for your whole stay. Airlines and neighbouring countries may want six months left even though Georgia's rule is simply that it is valid.

  • Insurance policy

Health and accident cover of at least 30,000 GEL for every day of the stay, arrival and departure days included, from a Georgian or foreign insurer, in English or Georgian, printed or on your phone. The Border Police can ask for it.

  • Nothing else by law

No arrival card, no registration, no fee. Keep your first night's address and a booking on your phone, because an airline may want to see an onward ticket or a hotel before it lets you board.

Count your days on the Interior Ministry's days calculator, not from memory. Since 1 October 2025 an overstay of up to three months costs 1,000 GEL, up to a year 2,000 GEL and beyond that 3,000 GEL, each with an entry ban. Our visa and entry guide has the full rules, the e-visa steps, residence permits and the 2026 labour law for anyone planning to work here.

Visa needed, apply at an embassy (59)

The e-visa portal did not issue to these passports on 8 October 2026; the application goes through a Georgian embassy or consulate, which the ministry's consular portal lists. A valid visa or residence permit from the EU, Schengen area, UK, US or a similar country lets you in without one for 90 days in 180. For the passports marked with an asterisk a Gulf visa or permit counts only if it is multiple-entry with at least a year left.

The insurance rule

Under the Law on Tourism, every tourist entering Georgia since 1 January 2026 must hold health and accident insurance for the whole stay, arrival and departure days included, with a sum insured of at least 30,000 GEL (about $11,500). The policy can come from a Georgian or a foreign insurer, in Georgian or English, on paper or on your phone, and must name the parties, the territory, the dates, the risks, the limit and the premium. Airlines have started asking at check-in, and the Border Police can ask at the booth. Our insurance guide goes through policy wording that meets the rule.

Where each answer comes from

We read the ministry's answer for every passport directly, so the list is the government's, not a third-party visa site's. The page is rebuilt with each re-read, and the date at the top is the day of the last one.

Frequently asked questions

Which countries can enter Georgia without a visa?
On 8 October 2026 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave the one-year answer for 90 countries plus the British overseas territories and Crown Dependencies, including every EU state, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Israel, the Gulf states, Turkey, Ukraine, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia and South Africa. Another 11 get 30 to 90 days under bilateral agreements: Chile, China, Dominica, Fiji, Grenada, Iran, North Macedonia, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Kitts and Nevis and Uruguay. The full list is above.
Can I enter Georgia with a US, UK or Schengen visa?
Yes, if your own passport needs a Georgian visa: a valid visa or residence permit of an EU, Schengen or EFTA state, the UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea or Israel lets you enter without a Georgian visa for 90 days in any 180. It must be valid on the day you cross, and you carry the document itself.
Can I enter Georgia with a UAE or Saudi residence permit?
For most passports, yes, for 90 days in any 180, as long as the permit or visa is valid on the day you cross. For 17 passports (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Congo (Democratic Republic), Cote d'Ivoire, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Uganda, Yemen) a document from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia or the UAE only counts if it is multiple-entry and valid for at least another year at the border.
Who can get a Georgian e-visa?
On 8 October 2026 the government portal evisa.gov.ge issued e-visas to 32 passports that need a visa, among them India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Egypt, Mongolia and Jamaica. Most get a single entry of 30 days within 120; some get multiple entry, 90 days within 180. The fee is $20 plus a 2% service fee, and the portal says a decision takes no less than five working days. Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh and the other passports in the embassy list apply at a Georgian embassy or consulate instead.
Do I need travel insurance to enter Georgia?
Yes. Since 1 January 2026 every tourist must hold health and accident insurance of at least 30,000 GEL covering the whole stay, arrival and departure days included, in English or Georgian, on paper or on a phone. Diplomatic passport holders, accredited embassy and international-organisation staff, people covered by international agreements and international transport drivers are exempt.
Is this an official visa checker?
No. It is our reading of the official sources on 8 October 2026, put in one place with the insurance rule and the documents. The decision is the Border Police's at the crossing. If your case is unusual (a diplomatic or service passport, a stateless travel document, a work or study stay), use the ministry's own visa information service at geoconsul.gov.ge.
