Kutaisi Airport arrival helper

Tell it when your Wizz Air flight lands, how many of you there are and where you are going. It works out when the coach to Tbilisi or Batumi will leave, whether a train from the airport station is due, when the next shuttle into Kutaisi goes, what a waiting driver costs for your party, and ranks them, with what to do at each step.

Coaches, Bolt and the Mestia minibus from our Kutaisi Airport transfers guide, verified September 2026; shuttle timetable, trains and GoTrip prices read 1 October 2026. Dollars at the National Bank of Georgia rate for 9 October 2026: 1 USD = 2.6019 GEL. Nothing you enter leaves your browser. Landing in Tbilisi instead? Use the Tbilisi Airport arrival helper.

Your arrival

Every way out, ranked for your landing

Costs are for your whole party. Each option says what to do at the doors, in order.

  1. 1. Coach to Tbilisi, timed to your flight

    Our pick

30 GEL each, about $12: 60 GEL for 2 people

Leaves about 03:10 to 03:40, in Tbilisi about 06:40 to 07:40

Three operators wait in the car park outside arrivals, all at 30 GEL, and the bus is attached to your flight: it leaves when that flight's passengers are on board and waits if the flight is late. Full-size coaches with a luggage hold, USB sockets and one rest stop.

    1. Pick the operator by where it ends: Georgian Bus at Station Square, next to the metro, for most hotels; OmniBus at the Okriba yard by Didube metro, then Ortachala; Metro Georgia at Ortachala, which has no metro.
    2. Book with your flight number on georgianbus.com, omnibusexpress.ge or tkt.ge, or metrogeorgia.ge; or buy at the desks in arrivals or, on Georgian Bus, on board.
    3. Walk out of arrivals into the car park: each coach has its company name on it and an English-speaking member of staff. Big bags go in the hold free.
  2. 2. Pre-booked GoTrip driver to Tbilisi

    Also good

290 GEL for the car, about $111, 145 GEL each

Driver waiting in arrivals, then 3 h 34 min for 253 km

Fixed price per car, the driver tracks the flight and waits in the hall with your name, and you pay in cash at the end. For 2 people with 2 suitcases the cheapest listing on 1 October 2026 was a Ford Fusion.

    1. Book on gotrip.ge at least a day ahead with your flight number and the address at the other end.
    2. Take lari from the Bank of Georgia or TBC machines on the right as you leave baggage reclaim (3 and 5 GEL fees in August 2026); the driver is paid in cash.
    3. The driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name. No deposit, no charge for a late flight.

  3. 3. Train from the airport station, the 09:27 to Tbilisi

    Long wait

34 GEL second class, 72 first: 68 GEL for 2 people in second

    09:27 to 12:00, train 803, fast double-decker; a wait of about 5 h 27 min after the doors

The next train is 5 h 27 min away, so this is not your train. Six trains a day call at the airport station for Tbilisi (09:27, 09:41, 12:18 on some dates, 18:17, 19:57 on most dates and 20:16); none is timed to a flight.

Before you fly

  • Install Bolt and verify your phone number at home: most travel eSIMs are data only, so registering after landing can fail.
  • Have your travel insurance on your phone for passport control; it has been required for entry since 1 January 2026.
  • Book the coach with your flight number, not a departure time; the bus is attached to the flight.

Good to know

  • Out of the doors about 03:10 to 03:40: our estimate of 30 to 60 minutes for passport control, bags and the walk out. The coaches plan on the same window.
  • Landing after midnight and would rather sleep than reach a Tbilisi bus station at dawn? That is the one case where the 290 GEL driver earns its price for a couple.
  • Bank of Georgia and TBC machines are on the right as you leave baggage reclaim; a Smart supermarket, a coffee shop and a 24-hour lounge ($35 at the door) are the places to wait.

From thegeorgianguide.com/plan/kutaisi-airport-arrival. Coaches and Bolt verified September 2026; shuttle, trains and GoTrip read 1 October 2026. GoTrip drivers set their own prices and the railway changes its timetable by season, so check the figure on the day.

How it decides

Kutaisi is a different problem from Tbilisi. There is no city bus that stops running at 23:00; instead there are coaches that leave whenever your flight lands, a railway station with six trains a day that are not timed to any flight, and a shuttle into town on a two-hour clock. So the helper adds 30 to 60 minutes to your landing time for passport control and bags, then asks what is leaving when you reach the kerb.

For Tbilisi it follows our transfers guide: the 30 GEL coach for most people, because it waits for you and carries your bags underneath. If a train from the airport station is due within about an hour of your getting out, the train, because it is quicker and lands you on the metro. For four or more, or a family with a pushchair and the bags to match, a GoTrip driver at 290 to 341 GEL per car, which splits to 72 to 85 GEL a head and drops you at the door. For Batumi the Georgian Bus minibus wins the same way, and the train is marked skip because tkt.ge offered no airport-to-Batumi seats for any October date when we looked. Into Kutaisi, the 5 GEL shuttle for a light bag and a short wait, Bolt for most, and a 39 GEL driver at night, with children, for five or more, or without data. For Mestia it checks the 08:20 shared minibus against your landing time, and at night it tells you to sleep in Kutaisi. For Zugdidi, the 11:24 train if it is due, otherwise the driver.

Booking the driver

If the helper picked a driver, book at least a day ahead. We use GoTrip for this run: you choose the car and driver from photos and reviews, the price is fixed per vehicle before you book, there is no deposit, the driver tracks the flight and waits in the hall without charging for a delay, and you pay in cash at the end. These are the cheapest cars on each route, read with GoTrip's own passenger and suitcase filters.

Data before the doors

The coach desks take cards and the shuttle takes nothing else, so Kutaisi is less dependent on a working phone than Tbilisi. Bolt still needs one, and so does checking tkt.ge for the train. The airport Wi-Fi is free but hides its connect button behind an advert; the operators' kiosks in arrivals sell SIMs around the clock at more than the shops in town. Or install an eSIM at home and walk straight out.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get from Kutaisi Airport to Tbilisi?
Take one of the three coaches waiting outside arrivals: 30 GEL, 3.5 to 4 hours, attached to your flight and held if it is late. Georgian Bus ends at Station Square on the metro; OmniBus and Metro Georgia end at Ortachala, OmniBus stopping at Didube first. If a train from the airport station is due within about an hour of your getting out (09:27, 09:41, 18:17, 19:57 and 20:16 daily, 12:18 on some dates), it is calmer and quicker: 34 GEL on the double-deckers, 15 GEL on the single-deckers. A GoTrip driver was 290 GEL per car on 1 October 2026.
I land at 3 in the morning. What should I do?
For Tbilisi or Batumi, the coach: it leaves 30 to 60 minutes after your flight lands and waits for delays, so a 03:00 landing means a coach at about 03:30 to 04:00 and Tbilisi at dawn. For Kutaisi itself, the shuttle leaves at 03:00 and 05:00 for 5 GEL by card, a Bolt is 25 to 30 GEL and a GoTrip driver 39 GEL per car; whichever you take, book your room for the previous night so you can check in on arrival, because nothing in town is open.
Is there a train from Kutaisi Airport to Tbilisi?
Yes, six a day when we read tkt.ge on 1 October 2026: fast double-deckers at 09:27, 18:17 and 19:57 (34 GEL second class, 72 first, 2 h 33 min) and single-deckers at 09:41, 12:18 and 20:16 (15 GEL second class, 27 first, about 3 hours). The 12:18 did not run every day and the 19:57 was missing on one date. The station is 1.8 km from the terminal with a free shuttle timed to the trains. None is timed to a flight, which is why the helper only recommends it when one is due soon after you reach the doors.
How do I get from Kutaisi Airport into Kutaisi?
The airport shuttle leaves the arrivals exit on the odd hours around the clock (01:00, 03:00 and so on to 23:00), costs 5 GEL by bank card only and reaches the Tourism Center in the centre 40 minutes later. A Bolt is 25 to 30 GEL for the car, a GoTrip driver 39 GEL per car with your name on a sign. The airport is 24 km from the centre.
Can I go straight from Kutaisi Airport to Mestia?
From May to October, Budget Georgia runs a shared minibus from the airport at 08:20 for 80 GEL a person, about 6 hours; since most flights land at night, the usual version is a night in Kutaisi and the next morning's departure from its office at 2 Gelati Street. A GoTrip driver was 335 GEL per car for the 4-hour drive on 1 October 2026. The third way is the 11:24 train to Zugdidi (13 GEL) and a marshrutka up the valley from the station.
Do I need cash when I land at Kutaisi?
Only for a GoTrip driver, who is paid in cash at the end, and for a passing marshrutka. The shuttle takes bank cards only, the coaches sell online and at their desks by card, Bolt is paid in the app and the trains are booked online. Bank of Georgia and TBC machines are on the right as you leave baggage reclaim, with 3 and 5 GEL withdrawal fees in August 2026.
